I started this website 10 years ago for the purpose of displaying some photographs of places and things that I have done. The site has gone through many design changes, and hosting services over the years, including a slight alteration to the name itself.
Many people have asked me how I arrived at the name “gumball” and is it really a company. Gumball refers to the street lamp design used in brooklyn between the 1940’s to late 1960’s. It was replaced by what I call an ultarian design, quite ugly, and bare bones. the “1946” is the year I was born in Brooklyn. As far as “company”, well, Dunn & Bradstreet thinks it exists. What it does refer to is this.......the neighborhood kids that hung out under that street light on Avenue H at night or at Fred & Rudy’s on e9th st and H.
The first part of the website is about my family, past and present. The second part is where I grew up on Ave H, the advertising of that era, and the cars that were around then.
The music and videos of the 60’s are also included.
The last part is about Cape Cod, Nantucket island which are my favorite places to travel to.
I had about 100 visitors in the first 8 years that this website existed. In 2007 alone, I had over 1200 visitors and growing. Its good to keep the past alive and rekindle good memories. Hopefully we had very few if any, bad ones. It just seems it all went too fast and here we are, alot older, alot wiser, and maybe a few aches here and there that we didnt have before. I would not trade growing up in Brooklyn for anything else in this world.
One last note here, I flunked english at Midwood, so tuff nuggies on the grammar here, oky!
